AT057: Cross Sterling Silver 150th Anniversay Limited Edition, boxed.
Date: c1996
Size: Length - 5 1/16 inches capped;
6 5/16 inches posted.
This
beautiful Cross fountain pen has been used a few times, but it remains
in near pristine condition. It is presented here in its original
wooded box with all its original contents. Both barrel and cap
are made
from sterling silver, and have been chased with a beautiful and complex
chevron pattern. The cap has the classic
Cross shape with a tapered top, ball-ended pocket clip, and three black
bands running around the centre of the cap. The barrel, likewise,
has a tapered black end piece and a further three black bands in the
centre. The
nib is made from 18 carat gold, and has the special 150th anniversary
engraving. It is marked as a medium point.
The
barrel
unscrews to allow the filling of the pen. You can
either fill
from a bottle with the included original ink converter, or the pen may
also be used with Cross ink cartridges.
The presentation box is a very grand affair. There is
a small ding to the beading on the lid, and a couple of very small
scratches to the outside of the case, but inside we still ahve the
unused crystal and silver ink well, and the original bottle of ink,
though some of this has been used. The instructions and
guarantee are tucked inside the lid.
I
did just dip the tip of the nib to produce the writing sample below,.
The nib felt very smooth and it produced a good consistent
medium width line.
A beautiful quality pen with excellent balance and a
nice heft.
