BA054: Baoer No. 701 Calligraphy Pen.

Date: c2000s

Size: Length - 5 1/2 inches capped; 6 3/8 inches posted.

A very beautiful Chinese fountain pen.  This pen is new old-stock, and has never been used.  Needless the say there is no damage on this pen.  Both cap and barrel are metal based with a lovely frosted gold coloured finish. The cap has an elongated top button, and a good robust looking gold plated pocket clip.  The cap body has a glossy black lacquer finish with a polished gold plated cap lip band with the "BAOER" engraving at the front and the model number around the back.  The barrel end is also black lacquered finished ,and tapers to accept the cap posted.  Forward of that, the barrel is decorated with incised rectangles.  The section is made from a textured resin that allows a good positive grip, and a sinlge narrow gold plated girdle just behinf the nib.  The steel nib is partly gold plated, and is a chinese calligraphy nib.  These nibs have an upturned end and they were with different line widths depending on the angle that the pen is held to the paper.  A steep angle will produce a narrower line and a shallow angle a wider line.  This is a cartridge/converter pen.  You unscrew the barrel to fit wither a standard international size cartridge or you can use the original standard ink converter that is already fitted.

The nib on this pen is very smooth and writes with a good wet and consistent line.
