BU055: Boot's Chatworth Fountain Pen and Pencil Set, boxed.
Date: c1950s
Size: Capped - 5 1/8 inches; posted
- 6 1/8 inches.
This set is in splendid condition with no flaws that I
can detect. Very unusually, all the gold plated trim is still
near pristine with no wear-through or blemishes. These 1950s
Boots hatsworth pens were manufactured by Burnham and sold in Boot's
stores throughout the UK. This is a glossy jet black set.
The caps have a domed top button holding a washer-style
Boot's pocket clip and a narrow gold plated cap
band.

Fountain Pen
The barrel imprint is crisp, deep and easy to
read.
The gold plated filling lever shows no brassing or other
damage. The black hard rubber section holds the lovely cute
little "Warranted" 14 carat gold nib. The nib is in a fine
to medium point.

Pencil
This is a propel-repel pencil that you work by twisting
the gold plated cone. It has a fresh 1.1mm lead fitted into
the mechanism and it is all ready to go.

Box
The cream coloured board box is decorated with a
gridwork of gold coloured diamonds. there are some small
grubby marks on the outside and some minor stains to the white satin
pad. The inside of the lid has a gold foil label.

I have fully serviced this pen. The nib is
lovely and smooth. It is also very slightly soft, and
will give a tiny bit of line width variation when writing
normally.
A complete set from a good manufacturer in excellent
condition.
