BU056: Burnham No. 44
Date: c1950s
Size: Capped - 4 3/8 inches; posted
- 5 7/16 inches.
A very pretty little Burnham No. 44 in green and black pearl
with gold veining - almost a camo pattern. This pen is in nice
condition, though in
common with many Burnhams, the gold plated trim does let it down a
little. While the cap and barrel are glossy and scratch free,
the pocket clip has some brassing at the shoulder, and the cap band and
filling lever also have some very small spots of plating wear, but
these are not noticeable unless you use magnification. The
cap has a glossy black top button that holds on the tapered gold plated
Burnham pocket clip. Below the clip is a single gold plated
cap band. The barrel has a shallow, but still clear and crisp
imprint and a straight gold plated filling lever. The nib is
a Burnham No. S20 - these nibs are gold plated alloy, and
this one again has lost most of its plating.
It is in a medium point.
I have fully serviced this pen. The nib is very smooth to write with. It produces a lovely wet and
medium width line.
A very good writer.
