CO018: Conklin Metropolis, boxed.
Date: c2000
Size: Length - 5 7/8 inches
capped; 6 5/8 inches posted.
A modern Conklin, this - it is now old-stock, and has
never been used. It is in pristine condition. The
Metropolis is a large, chunky pen with a steel cap and acrylic barrel
and section. The cap has a mainly frosted body with a
polished
top and lip band. The classic styled Conlkin pocket clip is
also
polished. Around the cap band is imprinted the "C" for
Conklin
and a ring of crescent symbols. The barrel and section are
made
from the same pearlised acrylic, and the barrel has a good clear
imprint and is finished off with a polished metal end. This
is a
cartridge-converter pen and is already fitted with its original Conklin
ink converter for filling from a bottle. Alternatively you
can
use a standard "international" style ink cartridge. The steel
nib
has the Conklin imprint and a medium point. The original gift
box
is covered in blue leatherette with a white satin lining. The
outer box is also supplied as is the guarantee card.
I did just dip the nib to get the writing sample below.
It
feels very smooth and produces an excellent wet and medium width
line.
A very unusual design and a lovely looking pen.
