A very small and very cute little Conklin pen.
t is
Typical 1920s styling for this glossy and very unusual
red hard rubber Conklin. The pen is in excellent
condition with no damage noted at all. Both cap and barrel have
an excellent deep and rich black colour with no apparent fading, and
they both have a fine vertical line chased decoration. The
flat-topped
cap is fitted with a gold filled chatelaine ring at the top and a
wide-ish gold filled band near the lip. The barrel has a tiny
gold filled filling lever that has "Conklin" imprinted along the stem,
and the Conklin crescent symbol on the circular end tab. This
lever pivots on a small
pin let into the barrel ,and you can just see the holes to either side
of the lever that carry the pin. The filling lever itself is
in excellent condition with no brassing or other damage evident.
Opposite the lever is the barrel
imprint. This is all still present and also in ecxellent
condition. The nib is a Conklin No. 2 in 14 carat gold and
in an extra-fine point.
I have fully serviced this pen. It fills
nicely, holding a respectable amount of ink. The nib is very
smooth in use, and quite soft, providing just a little line width
variation even when used with only normal writing pressure.
An unusually cute little pen.
