CR045: The Croxley Pen.
Date: c1930s
Size: Length - 5 1/16 inches capped;
6 1/4 inches posted.
This
is a large and chunky Croxley in bluen and black marbled
celluloid
with gold filled trim. as you can see from the close-up photos
below, there is a tiny bit of wear to the plating on the pocket
clip, and on the raised central spine of the filling lever, though this
is quite mild and you would not
notice it unless you were looking very closely. Both cap and
barrel
have a good original
gloss to them. The cap has a large conical-ended top button
holding on the stylised arrow Croxley pocket clip. There is
also a narrow gold filled cap band. The barrel has two
imprints - one saying "MADE IN GT BRITAIN", the other "THE CROXLEY PEN
/ A DICKINSON PRODUCT". Both are nice and deep and crisp with
excellent definition. The gold filled filling lever is also
in the form of an arrow. The original Dickinson nib is in 14
carat gold and has a medium width point.
I have fully serviced this pen. It fills well
and writes
well too. The nib is very smooth a writes with a
good wet line. The nib is soft and will produce
some very attractive line width variation as you write.
