CS256: Conway Stewart Dinkie No. 550 Fountain Pen and No. 25 Pencil
Set, boxed.
Date: c1950s
Size: Capped - 4 3/16 inches, posted
- 5 1/8 inches.
This is a superb Dinkie set in lovely glossy
and unmarked burgundy red marble with black veining. Try as I
might, I have been unable to find any damage at all to eeither piece.
The box has kept both pen and pencil in pristine condition.
The caps have a small
conical gold filled top button that holds on the pocket clips that have
the "CS" monogram within a diamond at the top and another diamond at
the bottom.

Fountain Pen
The barrel imprint is crisp and deep and the cute little
filling lever has the "CS" monogram imprinted in the circular end
tab. The nib is shiny and totally undamaged and is in a
medium point.

Pencil
The cap has a very good deep and crisp
imprint. The cap pulls off for access to the eraser holder -
the pink eraser has been barely used, I would think just once or twice, and it has also hardened over the years.
The cone is also gold
filled. The leads are propelled and repelled smoothly by
twisting the cap. I have fitted a fresh 1.1mm lead into the mechanism so it is all ready to go.

Box
A lovely pink floral pattern paperboard presentation case.
Again, excellent condition. This set has been really well looked after.

I have fully serviced this set.
The nib
writes very smoothly and is slightly soft, giving a very nive springy
action, and the tiniest bit of line width variation.
A beautiful set and a sought-after model in fabulous condition throughout.
