CS265: Conway Stewart No. 759.
Date: c1930s
Size: Capped - 5 3/16 inches, posted
- 6 9/16 inches.
This is the long model 759 in jet black casein gold
filled trim. Both cap and barrel are nice and glossy with no
splits, cracks or chips and no noticeable surface scratches either.
The main area of concern on this pen is the pocket clip which
has lost a lot of its gold plating at the shoulder, but retains it
lower down below the shoulder. The cap has a black hard
rubber top button that still has a good dark black colour with no
noticeable fading. The washer-style pocket clip "CS" cipher
at the top within a diamond shaped cartouche. There is
another diamond at the bottom of the clip. There is also a
single narrow gold filled cap band. The barrel has a short
filling lever with a circular end tab that also has "CS" imprinted
within a circle. The barrel imprint shows a bit of wear, and
it is fairly faint, but still all there. The section is also in unfaded
black hard rubber. The nib is the original 14 carat Conway
Stewart No. 2 in a medium point.
I have fully serviced this pen. The nib is
very smooth in action. It writes with a generous wet line,
and is also a semi-flexible nib, giving some very nice line width variation
between a broad and fine width with only a very slight variation of
writing pressure.
