CS270: Conway Stewart Dinkie No. 550.
Date: c1950s
Size: Capped - 4 1/4 inches, posted
- 5 inches.
A
very pretty little Dinkie made from a very attractive burgundy
and gold end brown marbled casein. Casein is a form of plastic
made
from
milk proteins. This pen is in excellent condition, the only
damage being a tiny bit of plating wear to the pocket clip that you can
see in the close-up cap photo below, but which is hardly noticeable
without magnification. The
cap has
a
small conical gold plated top button that holds on the gold
plated
pocket clip that has the "CS" monogram within a diamond at the top and
another diamond at the bottom. There is a fairly
narrow gold
plated cap band below the pocket clip. The barrel imprint is
crisp and deep.
The cute little filling lever has the "CS" monogram
imprinted in the circular end tab. The nib is shiny and
totally
undamaged and is a medium point.
I
have fully serviced this pen. The nib writes
very smoothly
with a very nice wet and medium width line. The nib
also has a
little softness and will provide a little understated line width
variation when used with normal writing pressure.
