CS383: Conway Stewart No 40 Pencil.
Date: c1950s
Size: Length - 5 1/8 inches.
A
beautiful red marbled with gold veins No. 40 pencil. This pencil
is in very good condition - there is some general plating wear to the
gold plated appointments, but other than that, the pencil is in fine
fettle still, and as usual, it looks a lot worse in the
photographs! The cap has a conical ended top jewel that holds on
the gold plated pocket clip. This has the usual diamond at the
shoulder with the "CS" logo, and a diamond shaped terminal at the end.
Thre is also a wide gold plated band at the cap lip. The
cap also holds the imprint, which is large, deep and crisp with no
noticeable wear. The cone is also gold plated. This is a
propel-repel pencil. It works by rotating
the cap.
The cap pulls off to reveal the original and hardly used pink
eraser. This is unused but
has hardened somewhat with age. I have installed a fresh 1.1mm
lead into the pencil so it is all ready to go.
