ES257: Esterbrook J, No. 9450 Firm extra-fine posting nib.

The Esterbrook J is a full-sized pen, being both longer and fatter than the SJ.  This pen is an extremely glossy and beautiful deep bright cherry pearlised colour.  It is in excellent condition with no splits, cracks or chips and not even any noticeable surface scratches.  The top of the cap and end of the barrel are both decorated with stepped black "jewels".  The cap still has its original grey paper sticky price label atached.  The pocket clip is ribbed and chrome plated, as is the cap band and filling lever.  All the trim is completely undamaged with no brassing.  The barrel imprint is nice and crisp.  The nib is a No. 9450 firm extra-fine posting renew-point.  These stainless steel nibs are screw-in units and are interchangeable with other Esterbrook Re-new points.  This one is undamaged.  

I have fully restored this pen.  The nib writes very smoothly despite its fineness and lays down an  extra-fine width, wet and consistent line.
