ES264: Esterbrook Dollar Pen, No. 1555 Gregg Shorthand Nib.
Date: c1930s
Size: Capped - 4 13/16
inches; posted - 6 1/8 inches.
A beautiful glossy pea green pearlised
celluloid Dollar pen. I really can't find any damage on this
pen. Neither barrel nor cap have any noticeable
scratches. All trim is chrome or nickel plated and shows no
brassing or other imperfections. Neither cap nor barrel have
any splits or cracks. This is the larger, full-sized Dollar
pen. The cap has the distinctive pierced pocket clip that
wraps over and fastens to the cap's flat top. There is also a
single cap band. The barrel imprint is sharp and clear and
unusually deep. The filling lever is quite long and
spade-ended. The nib is a very nice No. 1555 Gregg Shorthand renew-point. These stainless steel
nibs are screw-in units and are interchangeable with other Esterbrook
Re-new points.
I have fully restored this pen. It fills
easily. The nib is very smooth and writes with a wet and
consistent medium width line.
