ES266: Esterbrook M2, No. 2668 Firm Medium General Writing nib.
Date: c1958
Size: Capped - 5
5/16 inches; posted - 6 3/8 inches.
Manufactured in the late 1950s the M2 was Esterbrook's
foray into the metal-capped Aerometric filler market. The cap has a
very characteristic "V" groove in the top. It is made from
steel and most of the length has decorative engraving of hoops, with
the very top and bottom left plain and polished. It is fitted
with a polished pocket clip. At the lip of the cap is
imprinted "ESTERBROOK". The deep red barrel has a shallow but
complete imprint. This pen is in excellent condition with no
damage noted at all. The cap is shiny with no dings or
noticeable scratches, and the barrel is glossy with no splits, crack,
chips or scratching. The barrel unscrews to reveal the steel
aerometric filler. Instructions are imprinted onto the sac
guard. The guard is still in excellent condition, though the
spring steel press bar does have a little surface tarnish. The
nib is a No. 2668 Firm Medium General Writing re-new point.
These stainless steel nibs are screw-in units and are
interchangeable with other Esterbrook Re-new points. This one
is undamaged.
I have fully serviced this pen. The nib is
very smooth and writes with a lovely wet and consistent medium
width line.
An unusual Esterbrook model
