FC004: Graf von Faber-Castell Classic Grenadilla, boxed.
Date: c2000s
Size: Length - 5 7/16 inches capped; 6 15/16 inches posted.
A beautiful and top quality pen from Graf. This is a Classic fountain pen in the dark Grenadilla, or pomegranate, wood. It is very much styled after pens from the 1920s with its flat top an simple cylindrical lines. It is in excellent condition with no damage on it at all that I can see - it doesn't even look to me like it has been used. The cap top has a milled edge, with the Graf von Faber-Castell crest above the spring-loaded pocket clip. This has a very attractive
and sinuous shape. Around the cap lip is the imprint. The end of the barrel is shaped so that the cap posts securely. The middle part of the barrel is made from the beautiful dark grenadilla wood, and the gripping section is again metal. The nib is made from 18 carat gold and is in a fine point. This is a cartridge/converter fill pen. You can use a standard International ink cartridge or if you prefer to fill from a bottle, the pen is still fitted with its original and by the
looks of it, unused, ink converter. The original wooden box has a cream colourted flocked pad, and the pen still has its original cloth pouch and instruction booklet.
I did just dip the nib to get the writing sample below. The nib feels very smooth and writes with a lovely wet and consistent fine width line.
