PA1397: Parker 17 Standard.
Date: c1960s
Size: Capped - 5 3/8 inches; posted
- 5 3/4 inches.
A lovely glossy burgundy standard sized Parker 17.
It is a new
old-stock item from the stock of an old stationery
shop. This pen is in almost pristine condition and I
can't find any surface scratches, or any other damage on it at all.
The cap has a burgundy conical-ended top button with a
rolled gold Parker arrow pocket clip and a narrow rolled gold cap lip
band. The barrel imprint is still clear and sharp.
Also on the barrel is an almost complete factory-applied
chalk mark.
The barrel unscrews to reveal the shiny and undamaged steel
Aerometric filler. The original pli-glass ink sac is still
present and undamaged and retains all of its original transparency.
The hooded nib is made from 14 carat gold
and is in a fine point, which tallies well with the chalk markings on
the barrel.
I have fully serviced this pen. I did just dip
the tip of the nib to get the writing sample below. The nib
is very smooth and writes with a wet and consistent fine width
line.
