This series is created using traditional
Kaga-Maki-e techniques onto our most significant product - the
1911. A young, energetic artist - an ancestor of traditional
Kaga-Maki-e family traditions, has developed this Maki-e series
in a modern and stylish way. note the absence of the cap rings
giving an "unbroken" Maki-e design. The
1911 Classic Maki-e collection features extremely highly
detailed work.

Kyo-Maki-e techniques have survived and
thrived for over one thousand years since the Heian period.
Kyo-Maki-e décorative art can be seen at the Emperor's Palace,
on musical instruments and ancient temples and on various
Japanese lacquer wares.
Kyo-Maki-e art gives a feeling of beauty and
luxury with the typical simplicity of Japanesee culture as
exemplified in the traditional Tea Ceremony, etc. Such
simplicity of Kyo-Maki-e is both stylish and refined in design,
respecting traditional Japanesee culture. These special
products are created in Kyoto and this Kyo-Maki-e series
reflects the ancient roots of Maki-e art.
