SH1279: Sheaffer Sovereign TM Touchdown.

Date: c1950

Size: Capped - 5 7/16 inches; posted - 6 3/16 inches.

This glossy 1950s blue Sovereign Touchdown is in excellent condition.   I was not able to spot any damage on this pen.   The cap has a gold filled and spring loaded pocket clip, below which is a wide gold filled cap band.  The knurled barrel end blind cap unscrews smoothly for the withdrawal of the Touchdown plunger.  The barrel imprint is nice and clear and a lot deeper than most, and identifies this pen as being made in Canada, probably for the UK market.  The black plastic ribbed section has an amber tinted visualated "window".  Visibility is still pristine with no internal ink staining at all.  The nib is a lovely two tone 14 carat gold Sheaffer  in a medium point.  Again, the nib was made in Canada.

I have fully serviced this set.  The nib is very smooth and writes very well with a wet and medium width consistent line.

These early model Sovereign TM Touchdown pens are really quite unusual - I have only ever had two or three others on my website.
