This is one of the "thin model" Touchdown pens, only made in 1950 and 1951. This one is in excellent condition and is in glossy bottle-green. I can see a couple of faint toothmarks on the barrel end blind cap, but apart from that, the pen is in excellent overall condition. The tapered cap had spring-loaded gold filled Sheaffer's pocket clip and a medium width gold filled cap band. All the trim is bright and shiny with no wear or brassing. The barrel end blind cap unscrews to allow the filling plunger to be withdrawn. The filling mechanism inside the pen is all in lovely original and undamaged condition. The barrel imprint is also in excellent condition - still deep and crisp. The ribbed section has an amber coloured translucent "window" to show when the ink is running low. Visibility through the window is still excellent with no internal ink staining that I can see. The nib is a two-tone 14 carat gold Sheaffer Feather Touch No. 5 in an extra fine point.
I have fully serviced this pen. The nib is very smooth and it writes with an excellent wet and consistent extra-fine width line.
A lovely looking pen - and a beautiful writer.
