This is one of the "thin model" Touchdown pens, only made in 1950 and 1951. This one is in excellent condition and is in glossy jet black. I can't actually see and damage at all on this one. It is a real good looker. The tapered cap had spring-loaded gold filled Sheaffer's pocket clip and a medium width gold filled cap band. All the trim is bright and shiny with no wear or brassing. The barrel end blind cap unscrews to allow the filling plunger to be withdrawn. The filling mechanism inside the pen is all in lovely original and undamaged condition. The barrel imprint is still clear, risp and complete. The ribbed section has a green coloured translucent "window" to show when the ink is running low. Visibility through the window is excellent with no internal staining at all. The nib is a two-tone 14 carat gold Sheaffer Feather Touch No. 5 in a medium point.
I have fully serviced this pen. The nib is very smooth and it writes with an excellent wet and consistent medium width line.
