A beautiful glossy brown and amber mottled Lacque Targa in the pattern that is called Tortoise Shell. This pen is in excellent, near pristine condition, with no damage at all that I can see. The lovely deep lacquering retains a beautiful shine and is scratch-free. The gold plated trim is still bright and shiny with no wear. The Targa line of pens are made from turned brass with lacquer applied over the top and gold plated trim. The cap has the distinctive flat top with a black inlaid disk and a gold plated band above the pierced white dot pocket clip. The design is very much inspired by 1920s flat-top pens. Both cap and barrel are covered in the beautiful smooth and tough lacquer. The barrel unscrews to allow the fitting of a standard Sheaffer ink cartridge, or you can use a standard Sheaffer ink converter if you prefer to use bottled ink (converter is included). The nib is a beautiful inlaid Sheaffer in 14 carat gold. It is a broad point. The original presentation box is a bit battered outside, but very clean and tidy inside. Also present is the original instruction sheet.
I have fully serviced this pen. The nib is very smooth and writes with an excellent wet and broad width line. It is also very slightly stubby with a tiny bit if softness to give a good springy action and even a little line width variation as you write.
The Targa is a very stylish and substantial pen. This one is near pristine still. They are getting very hard to find now in this condition.
