A new-old-stock Wing Sung pen from China. This pen is part of a consignment of old stock Chinese pens that I have recently purchased. It has never been inked or used and is in excellent and completely undamaged condition. Wing Sung is the "other" major Chinese pen manufacturer after Hero. The Wing Sung pens are rather interesting as most of them have some kind of quirky trait to them. This is a big, chunky pen that reminds me somewhat of a pen from a well-known German manufacturer, though it is by no means a copy. I would think it was probably made in the 1990s. Both cap and barrel have a gold plated metal overlay which has been machine decorated with a series of wavy lines from top to bottom. The section is in black resin with a wide gold pated band at the forward end adjacent to the nib. The large steel nib is also gold plated and in a fine point. Unscrewing the barrel, you will find a press-bar aerometric-style filling unit that you can pull out to allow the use of an ink cartridge if you don't like using bottled ink.
As with most Chinese pens from the more well-known manufacturers, this is a good writer and produces a fine width and consistent line. An unusual western-style design from the Far East and a good-sized pen.
