This blue and black marbled Conway 85 is in excellent condition. There is no real damage to this pen that I could spot. Both cap and barrel are lovely and glossy with no noticeable surface scratches. The trim is all gold filled, and apparently without any brassing, which is unusual in itself for a Conway Stewart of this vintage. The pen is made from a beautiful almost 3-dimensional looking blue pearl celluloid. The cap has a gold plated conical end "jewel" with a gold plated bezel, cap band, and long straight pocket clip. The clip has the "CS" logo at the top within a diamond shaped cartouche and another diamond at the bottom. The barrel imprint is very crisp and still quite deep. It is fitted with a short gold plated filling lever with a diamond and "CS" logo imprinted within the circular end tab. The glossy black section holds the super No. 3 Conway Stewart nib, which is 14 carat gold, undamaged, and in a medium point.
I have fully serviced this pen. The nib is very smooth in use and lays down a good wet medium width line. It also has some softness and will give you a tiny bit of line width variation as you write.
