SH1789 Sheaffer Admiral Snorkel. (Medium)
Date: c1950s
Size: Caped - 144mm; Posted - 161mm.
This is a good condition burgundy Admiral Snorkel. It has a lovely a glossy barrel and cap with the i=only damage that I can see being the plating wear to the lower part of the pocket clip. The cap has a tapered gold filled spring-loaded pocket clip and gold filled cap lip band. The blind barrel cap unscrews smoothly and easily to extend the filing tube and withdraw the plunger. This is a late-model Snorkel pen with a faint imprint around the back of the cap just above the cap band. The black plastic finger grip is ribbed to afford a good purchase. The nib is a lovely shiny Sheaffer's 14 carat gold example. It is in a medium point. Internally, the pen is also in excellent shape with an undamaged and as-new filling mechanism.
I have fully serviced this pen. It writes with a very smooth action and produces a lovely wet and medium width line. The nib is quite firm so it does not produce and line width variation.
