Size: Approx 1 7/16 inches by 5/16 inches. Each lead is approx .1 3/8 inches long
A pack of vintage pencil leads from, I would think, the 1940s. Each pack has ten 1 3/8 inch leads in a paper-covered wooden tube. These will fit any pencil that takes the 0.9mm diameter leads. These are rather interesting and rather unusal leads, being the old-fashioned purple copy leads. The line produced by these leads appears at first to be a standard graphite line, but it has a slight purplish hue. This is caused by the addition of a water-soluble purple aniline dye that is added to the lead when in powder form. The copy leads were used to enable copies to be taken of a document and also because of their indelible nature. Once you have writted with one of these, you can damp apiece of tissue paper, and carefully press against the writing, it will transfer a purple image of the writing onto the tissue paper.
This is part of a consignment of old stock Everhsarp leads I have purchased. The tubes are sealed, but please note that I have opened one of the tubes to verify the thickness and number of leads inside. Please let me know at time of ordering if you'd rather have a sealed tube instead of the one I have opened.
