This is a very nice large and chunky glossy jet black Burnham No. 55. It is one of the early model pens with the high domed cap top. This pen is in excellent condition with the only damage that I can see being some surface scratches to the nib. Very unusually, all the gold plated trim appears to be bright and shiny with no brassing. This pen is in remarkably good condition with a lovely bright and glossy cap and barrel and a very attractive little 14ct gold nib. The pocket clip tapers toward the teardrop-shaped terminal. It has the Burnham "B" imprinted at the clip shoulder inside a diamond-shaped cartouche. Below the pocket clip is a single gold plated band. The barrel imprint is also undamaged and is crisp and clear. The filling lever opposite is also gold plated. The Burnham nib is made from 14carat gold and is in a medium point.
I have fully serviced this pen. The lovely nib writes very smoothly and lays down a good wet and consistent medium width line. It does have a little softness with a good, springy action, and it will even provide a tiny bit of line width variation for you.
A beautiful full-sized chunky Burnham.
