A lovely large glossy black Conway in excellent condition. There are no splits, cracks or chips and not even any noticeable surface scratches. The only damage I can find on this pen is some plating wear to the stem of the filling lever. This pen is made from jet black celluloid with a large conical-ended ebonite cap top button holding on the washer style gold filled pocket clip. The clip has the "CS" monogram within a diamond shaped cartouche at the top and another diamond at the bottom. There is also a single gold filled cap band and this is undamaged with no brassing at all. The flat-ended barrel has a nice crisp and clear imprint and a short gold filled filling lever. It has a circular end tab with the "CS" monogram again within a diamond shaped cartouche. The black hard rubber section, also undamaged and glossy, holds the large and undamaged Conway Stewart No. 5 nib in 14-carat gold. It looks to be in a medium point.
I have fully serviced this pen. The nib is very smooth in use and lays down a very nice wet and medium width line. The nib has some softness to it and it will give you a little bit of line width variation as you write - it can easily manage and degree between a fine and a broad line.
An excellent and good looking writer.
