A glossy burgundy marbled celluloid No. 540 Dinkie pen from the late 1930s. It is in excellent condition with the only damage that I can see on it being a tiny bit of foxing to the edges of the filling lever. Both cap and barrel are glossy and scratch free. The cap has a large black conical ended top button that holds on the washer style gold filled pocket clip. The button still has a very good deep and rich colour. The gold filled pocket clip has the "CS" monogram within a diamond at the top and another diamond at the bottom. There is a single gold filled cap band near the lip. The barrel imprint is still in excellent condition, being crisp and deep and the cute little gold filled filling lever has the "CS" monogram imprinted in the circular end tab. The nib is shiny and undamaged and is a medium point. The box is quite grubby on the outside, and the printing has faded somewhat on the top of the lid. There are hand-written inscriptions on the base of the box and inside the box's lid.
I have fully serviced this pen. The nib writes very smoothly and is also lovely and flexible, giving you some attractive line width variation from a fine to a good generous broad width with hardly and effort at all.
