Size: Length - 109mm capped; 136mm posted.
This lovely and unusual set is in excellent condition with just some plating wear on the pencil's barrel band being the only damage that I can see to either piece. The barrels of both pieces are made from a glossy black resin. They are shiny and free from blemishes.
The cap has a transparent plastic core with a gold plated "sleeve" over the top. The plastic peeks out of the bottom of the sleeve, forming the cap lip, and at the top, making a very unusual clear top jewel. The Platignum pocket clip is also gold plated. The barrel has a nice clear and crisp imprint, and opposite is the narrow gold plated filling lever. The nib is a screw-in Platignum gold plated steel unit in a medium point.
The pencil also has gold plated trim, courtesy of a Platignum pocket clip, barrel band and cone. Again, the imprint is deep and crisp. The top button unscrews and beneath is the spare lead storage. There are a couple of spare 1.1mm leads here. This is a propel-repel pencil that works by twisting the cone.
A marvellous 1950s style paperboard box. It is in excellent condition with a grey almost floral pattern on the outside and all white inside. Tucked inside the lid is a leaflet about the "quick-change" nib units.
I have fully serviced this set. The nib is nice and smooth and writes really nicely with a medium width wet line.
