This is a lovely and rather unusual glossy burgundy Parker 17 Lady set in the Deluxe configuration with the rolled gold caps. I have only seen a handful of these in the 16 or so years I have been restoring and selling vintage pens. As is usual with pen sets, one item has been used more than the other. In this case, the fountain pen is nearly pristine and cannot have been used more than once or twice at the most, whereas the pencil has been used, and has a couple of very tiny pinprick-sized dings to the side of the cap to show for it. Other than this, the set is in lovely condition. Both pieces have the rolled gold cap with the vertical incised line decoration, a lovely rolled gold Parker arrow pocket clip, and a burgundy top button.
The barrel has a good, crisp imprint. The barrel unscrews to reveal the Aerometric filler. This is almost as new with no damage noted and still has its original pliglass ink sac which is still clear with no internal ink staining that I could see. The hooded nib is in 14 carat gold and in a medium point.
The barrel imprint is a little shallower on the pencil. The cone is rolled gold with no damage. This is a propel-repel pencil that works by twisting the cap. The cap also pulls off revealing a broken off pink eraser in its little metal holder. Below this are a couple of spare 0.9mm leads. I have installed a fresh lead into the mechanism so it is all ready to go. It works perfectly.
I have fully serviced this set. The nib is very smooth and lays down an excellent wet, medium width line.
A rather unusual and pretty little set.
