A gorgeous English India Black with rolled gold Custom caps Parker 51 fountain pen, ballpoint pen and pencil set all in their original Parker 51 hardshell case. Try as I might I can find no plating wear or even any noticeable scratches on any of the pieces. Everything is still bright and shiny. The caps are decorated with repeating groups of vertical incised lines. They all have clear grey top jewels and gold-filled Parker arrow pocket clips. The only damage I can find on this set is a tiny pinprick-sized ding to the side of the ballpoint's cap.
The barrel unscrews to reveal the Aerometric filler. This is still in very nice condition with its original Pliglass ink sac which retains much of its original transparency which indicates to me that it has not seen a lot of use. a modern Parker ink converter. The hood is glossy and also grey and has the inset golden arrow near the point.
This is a cap activated retractable ballpoint. You press the cap to extend and retract the writing point. It is fitted with a modern Parker refill in black which is working perfectly.
The cap pulls off to reveal the original eraser, which is now but a tub, in its little metal eraser holder. Below this is the spare lead hopper, though no spare leads. I have fitted a fresh 0.9mm lead into the mechanism. This is a clutch-type pencil - you push down on the cap to release the clutch and allow the lead to extend. The point is chrome plated with the incised hoops decoration.
The classic faux lizardskin Parker 51 box - most unusually in this case, with three slots inside. There are very few of these cases that were made to house three pens around. This one is in very nice condition. It has some brown age-spotting inside on the satin lining; outside it is very clean and very stylish with its brass binding and very attractive outer covering.
Each piece is working perfectly. The pen writes very smoothly with a medium width nice wet line.
