PA3601 Parker Duofold Junior, boxed. (Flexible Medium)
Date: c1970
Size: Capped - 134mm; posted - 157mm.
A very attractive India black Junior Duofold in excellent condition. There are no splits, cracks or chips and not even any noticeable scratches on either barrel or cap. All trim is rolled gold and again has no damage. The cap is topped with a rolled gold indented button which holds on the stylised arrow pocket clip. This is the later version of the Junior Duofold, made probably in 1970, with the very narrow cap lip band and simplified pocket clip. There is a shallow but still crisp and clear imprint kust above the cap lip band. Very unusually, on the barrel, is a partial factory-applied chalk mark, which indicates to me that the pen has seen very limited use over the years. The barrel unscrews to reveal the Aerometric filler. The steel sac guard is still in lively condition with the original pliglass ink sac having hardly any internal ink staining and retaining almost all of its original transparency. The nib is a shiny Parker No. 10 in 14 carat gold. It is a medium point. The box has grey criss-cross lines on an off-white background with a black base. It is in very tidy condition inside and out. Also inside the box is the original instruction sheet that has been dated to 1970.
I have fully serviced this pen. The nib is very smooth and writes with a lovely wet and consistent medium width line. Very unusually for a pen of this age, the nib is fully flexible, and capable of an easy double broad width line.
With its super-expressive nib, this would make a great signature pen!
