This Admiral Snorkel is one of three Snorkel models that were made with the "open" or traditional shaped nib. This one is a beautiful glossy jet black example in excellent condition with no damage on it that I was able spot at all. The cap has a tapered, gold filled, spring loaded Sheaffer's pocket clip. There is also a gold filled cap band. The barrel has a good, clear imprint that is much deeper and better defined than most Snorkels. The knurled barrel end blind cap unscrews smoothly to extend the filling tube and withdraw the plunger. All the internal workings are shiny and in undamaged and as-new condition. The black plastic finger grip is ribbed. The nib is an excellent 14ct solid gold Sheaffer's in a fine point. Both barrel and cap imprints identify this pen as being made in Australia. The original box is a hard-shell case with the textured and striated black and gold outer. Inside, the pad and lid lining are made from a cream coloured satin. Below the pad is the original instruction sheet.
I have fully serviced this pen. The Snorkel filler produces very good compression and fills the pen effortlessly. The nib is very smooth in action and lays down a lovely wet and medium width consistent line.
A lovely Snorkel.
