This is an example the recently retired Sheaffer 300 fountain pen. This is the 9312 model, which is all black lacquer finish with chrome plated trim. This pen is in excellent condition with no damage at all that I could find. It is a large pen with a good heft and a very good writer. The cap has a tapered crown with the pocket clip mounted high. This is pierced with the Sheaffer White Dot at the shoulder and it is spring-loaded as well. Around the cap lip is a wide chrome plated band which bears the pen's imprint. The barrel end has a chrome plated piece that is shaped so that the cap will "click" onto the end of the barrel securely. The cap pulls off to reveal the steel nib in a medium point. This is a cartridge/converter fill pen - you can use a standard Sheaffer ink cartridge (you will find one in the box under the pad to start you off, or you can use the original Sheaffer ink converter that is already fitted to the pen. The black leatherette covered box is also in excellent condition. The original instruction sheet is also under the pad.
I have fully serviced this pen. The nib writes very smoothly. It lays down a good wet and consistent medium width line.
