A very nice full-sized English Summit made from glossy black chased celluloid and from probably the late 1930s. It is in excellent condition with no splits, cracks or chips, and no noticeable surface scratches either. All the plating looks to be in very nice bright and shiny condition. The only thing I would mention is the colour fading on the hard rubber cap top button which is more due to the age of the item rather than any damage done to it. The cap has a conical-ended black hard rubber top button that holds on the gold filled washer style ball ended Summit pocket clip. Below the pocket clip is a very narrow gold filled cap band. The barrel and cap are both chased with the popular barleycorn pattern, and this chasing is still crisp and deep with no noticeable wear. The barrel imprint is very nice, being sharp and well-defined. The long and narrow filling lever is also gold filled. The nib is a shiny Summit in 14 carat gold. It looks to me like a fine point.
I have fully serviced this pen. The nib writes very smoothly and produces a very nice wet and fine width line. It is a soft nib with a good springy action that will give a tiny bit of line width variation to your script as you write.
