SW817 Blackbird Self-Filler No. BB2/45. (Flexible Fine).

An example of a Blackbird model BB2/45 from the early to mid 1930s.  It is made from green and black marbled celluloid.  It is in good condition - there is quite a lot of plating wear to the pocket clip and the filling lever, and this is rather common in these older pens.  Every piece of the pen is original and is marked.   The cap has a ball-ended and gold filled pocket clip with the Blackbird logo at the shoulder and has BLACKBIRD impressed around the top edge.  The main barrel imprint is lovely and crisp and deep.  The gold filled lever has a small circular end tab.  The nib is a lovely Blackbird No 2 size, in 14 ct. gold.   The base of the barrel bears the model number "BB2/45".

I have fully serviced this pen.  The nib is very smooth and also is a flexible example.   This pen would make an exceptional everyday writer as the fine point nib produces an excellent wet line that will vary in width as you write from an extra-fine line to a generous medium-broad width line.
