WY096 Wyvern No. 50 (Semi-Flexible Medium)
Date: c1950s
Size: Length - 137mm capped; 166mm posted.
A lovely jet black Wyvern from, I would think, the late 1940s or earkly 1950s. This pen is in excellent condition. There is no damage on it at all that I can see. The cap has a rather tall black hard rubber top button that holds on the tapering gold filled pocket clip. This has a ball-shaped terminal. The cap is unadorned by any bands or rings - in fact, the whole pen is beautifully understated and elegant in its design. The barrel bears a large imprint which is still nice and crisp and easily made out. The filling lever is also gold filled and is still nice and straight. The nib is a very nice Wyvern 14ct gold example in a medium point.
I have fully serviced this pen. The nib is smooth to write with and it produces a nice wet and consistent line. It is also a soft nib - I would class this as semi-flexible - and will give you some very attractive line width variation from a medium to a good generous broad with very little erffort.
