This is a beautiful and really very very unusual Recorder pencil. What makes this pencil so unusual is that it is only the second one I have ever come across with a resin barrel. Usually, the Year-O-Led recorder pencils are all-metal. This example is in excellent condition with the only damage on it being a light scratch to the side of the cap which I have photographed below. The rolled gold cap has very fine vertical incised lines running down the body. The top button is pointed at the end and has a knurled circumference. This holds on the tapering pocket clip, which has "YARD-O-LED" imprinted down the stem. The carrel is a very deep, dark burgundy colour. The point is rolled gold too. This is a propel-repel pencil that works by twisting the cap. There are still a few spare leads in the barrel hopper, which you access by pulling up the cap and unscrewing the stopper at the end of the barrel. I have also fitted a fresh 1.18mm lead so it is all ready to go.
A very unusual - dare I say rare? pencil. Only ever seen one other like it.
