This is a top quality and top of the range pen from the Swiss manufacturer Caran d'Ache. It is a current model Varius pen, and it appears to be unused with no damage at all that I can see. It is in its original box and is complete with its outer red card slipcase. This pen has a hexagonal cross-section. The cap, barrel end piece, and gripping section are rhodium plated, whereas the barrel is made from carbon fibre. The contrast between the highly polished rhodium and the deep lustrous carbon fibre is truly striking. The cap has a rhodium plated top button with manufacturer's name engraved around the sides and the logo etched into the slightly domed top. The sinuous pocket clip has a pronounced central ridge and folds over on itself to give a good springy action. It has a teardrop shaped terminal. The cap unscrews to reveal the 18ct gold rhodium plated nib which is in a medium point. The end of the barrel has been designed so that the cap will post securely for writing. You can unscrew the barrel to fit a standard International style ink cartridge, or if you prefer bottled ink you can use the original and apparently unused ink converter that is already fitted to the pen. The original wooden box is in excellent condition. The original red slipcase is showing a little scuffing at the edges and corners but has protected the box well. Below the pad is the guarantee and instruction book.
