A little bit of fun here - an unusually bright red and black celluloid pencil advertising "Marconiphone Radio". This pencil is in excellent condition with just the usual spiral pattern on the point which is caused by the base metal migrating through the thin gold plating. This is a propel-repel pencil that works by twisting the black crown. I have fitted a fresh 1.18mm lead into the pencil and it is working perfectly. The inscription on the barrel is picked out in gold and is lovely and clear with only very minor loss of its original infill, and I guess it would date the pencil to around the 1950s? Marconiphone was a sub-brans of the Gramophone Company, along with HMV and others. The point can be unscrewed for access to the forward part of the mechanism for cleaning purposes.
I have fully serviced this pencil. It works perfectly.
An interesting advertising pencil in lovely condition.
