RE010 Reform No. 1745 Fountain Pen, No. 966 Rollerball, and No. 62 Ballpoint Set, boxed. (Medium)

Date: c1980s

Size: Capped - 130mm, posted - 151mm.

An old stock piston filled pen set from Germany.  The Reform company was very big in its day, having sales that eclipsed Lamy and Kaweco.  The 1745 is a copy of the Pelikan M120, and was made I would think in the 1980s.  The rollerball and ballpoint are similarly styled.  All three pens are in excellent condition - the plating on the pocket clips seems to have gone off a bit but this is quite common with these pens, even the ones, like this, that have never seen any use.  The pens have a very Pelikanesque pocket clip mounted on a black cap with a gold plated lip band.  All three pens also still have their original sales labels on their barrels.

Fountain Pen

The blind cap at the end of the barrel twists to operate the piston filling mechanism.  The rest of the barrel is green and has a large light blue tinted window at the forward end so you can see how much ink you have left.  The black section holds a cute little two-tone steel Reform nib.  It has a medium point.

Rollerball

This accepts the standard Schmidt 5888 type rollerball refills.  I have fitted a fresh refill into the pen.

Ballpoint

The is a retractable ballpoint that works by pressing down on the button at the top of the cap.  The short green barrel is, unusually fluted.   This pen uses the standard Parker G2 style refills, and again, I have fitted a fresh one into the pen.

Box

A white bakelite box which is in good condition - there is a small chip to the right-hand corner of the lid, but otherwise it is sill in lovely condition with a red flocked pad.  The cardboard outer slipcase is also still present.

did just dip the nib to get the writing sample below.  The little two-tine steel nib writes very well indeed with a good smooth medium width line.

It is very unusual to find these pens in a set with the original box too.
