A beautiful glossy pastel greyStatesman set, still in its original box, and in excellent condition. I have looked over this set very carefully, and I really cannot see anything wrong with this set at all. The caps have the Sheaffer white dot above the tapered, spring loaded and gold filled pocket clips. The cap lip bands are 3/8 inches wide, also gold filled and decorated with two incised horizontal lines.

Fountain Pen

The barrel imprint is clear and crisp and much deeper than most Snorkel imprints. This and the nib imprint identify this as an American made set.  The knurled barrel end blind cap unscrews smoothly to extend the filling tube and withdraw the plunger. All the internal workings are shiny and in undamaged and as-new condition. The ribbed finger grip is also grey to match the rest of the pen.  The nib is a lovely palladium silver Triumph in a fine point with the 'F4' engraving to the underside.

Pencil

This is a propel-repel pencil with a good crisp barrel imprint.  The cap pulls off to reveal a barely used blue eraser with a couple of spare 0.9mm leads beneath.  The pencil works smoothly with a twist of the cap and has a good positive action. The imprint at the top of the barrel is again nice and sharp, and again gives the U.S. as the originating country.

Box

The box is in excellent condition with no damage noted at all to the outside, and just a couple of small ink marks inside.  The lid lining is saying wereas the pad is made from a flocked material.  Below the pad is the original instruction sheet and also a leaflet about Sheaffer Skrip ink.  

I have fully serviced this set. The nib is very smooth and writes with a beautiful wet and consistent fine width line.
