WA716 Waterman Pencil
WA716 Waterman Pencil
Date: c1950
Size: Length - 124mm.
A rather nice English Waterman's pencil from the late 1940s or early 1950s in the rather attractive grey striated celluloid. It is in very good condition with some very minor surface wear (tiny scratches mainly) to the barrel and cap, and some very minor and hard to spot plating wear to the very edges of the pocket clip. The cap is fitted with a Deco-style Waterman's pocket clip in gold fill with the ribbing at the shoulder, and this is held on by a small gold filled top button with a convex upper surface. The cap pulls off to reveal the remains of the original pink eraser. At the top of the barrel is a wide gold filled band with incised horizontal hoop decoration flanked to and bottom by narrow gold filled bands. Mid-barrel is the imprint which is lovely and crisp and deep. The point is gold filled also. This is a propel-repel pencil that works by twisting the cap. I have fitted a fresh 1.18mm lead into the mechanism, so it should be all ready to go.
I have fully serviced this pencil. It works perfectly.
