CS1176 Conway Stewart Nippy No. 3 Pencil.

This burgundy marbled casein Nippy No. 3 pencil works perfectly and is in good cosmetic condition.   Unusually, the gold-plated trim doesn't show the usual wear, though  I can see a little discolouration to the plating on the point.  The barrel of the pencil shows the typical surface crazing that you get with these old casein instruments, but it is only visible with a loupe (or in the close-up photos below).  To the naked eye, it is a very good-looking glossy pencil. The pencil has a conical-ended crown, which can be twisted to extend and retract the 1.18mm lead.  On the side of the barrel is a very clear and crisp imprint.  The pocket clip has the Conway Stewart "CS" cipher to the shoulder within a diamond-shaped cartouche, with the diamind-shaped terminal.  The black cone is separated from the barrel by a gold plated band, and the point is also gold plated. 

I have fully serviced this pencil.  It is a propel-repel pencil and it works very smoothly by rotating the black top button.  I have installed a fresh 1.18mm lead into the mechanism so it is all ready to go.
