ME263 Platignum Pencil
ME263 Platignum Pencil
Date: c1930s
Size: Length - 129mm.
A very pretty and quite early full-sized Platignum pencil - a sub-brand of Mentmore, of course - from probably around the late 1930s. This one is in very good condition, with the only damage being a little bit of foxing to the pocket clip plating. The body of the pen is made from a very nice green and black marbled celluloid, and the mechanism, which is a propel-repel mechanism, is operated by twisting the flared black crown. You can see the little chrome-plated button on the barrel, which is decorated with concentric circles. This was the early "logo" or mark for Platignum pens. I have fitted a fresh 1.18mm lead into the mechanism, and the pencil is all ready to go.
I have fully serviced this pencil. It works perfectly. A rather nice, pretty, inexpensive and nice-sized pencil.
