PA3728 Parker 51 Aerometric Fountain Pen and Pencil Set, boxed (Medium)

Size: Capped - 140mm posted - 157mm.

A very pretty dove grey coloured Parker 51 set.  Both pieces are in excellent condition with no damage to either piece noted.  Both items are in beautiful condition.  The caps have no dings and no noticeable scratches either.  The barrels are scratchless and very glossy.  Both caps have a clear grey top jewel with a chrome plated short arrow Parker pocket clip.  The cap lips are polished in contrast with the frosted cap bodies.

Fountain Pen

The barrel unscrews to reveal the Aerometric filler which is in excellent undamaged and shiny condition.  The original pliglass ink sac is still installed and has just the usual internal ink staining.  The hooded nib is in a medium point and made from 14 carat gold.  

Pencil

This is a twist pencil - you twidst the cap to extend and retract the 0.9mm lead.  It, too, is in excellent condition.  The cap pulls off - below the cap is the original eraser holder with a mostlyused pink eraser still in it.  There is a space to store spare leads below.  I have also installed a fresh 0.9mm lead in the clutch mechanism. 

Box

The original box is in very good condition.  It is the classic faux lizard skin covered hardshell Parker 51 box - the one that was copied for the new model Parkers some years ago.  This is the original!  It is in lovely condition - there is a small ink mark to the satin pad, but that is about it!  The brass bound edges just cement the feeling of quality you get with these presentation cases.  Most unusually, the carboard outer slipcase is also still present, and whilst this shows some edge wear, it is remarkable to have survived at all.  Inside the box are the original instruction leaflets - one for the fpen and another that covers ballpoints and pencils. 

I have fully serviced this set.  The nib writes very smoothly, just how you would expect and hope a Parker 51 to write.  It works very well and produces a wet and consistent medium width line.

This is a lovely 1950s Parker 51 set. Most unusual to have the out case as well!
