WA726 Waterman's No. W5. (Soft Fine)
Date: c1950
Size: Capped - 127mm; posted - 155mm.
This is a very attractive glossy jet green striated celluloid example of a post-war English No. W5. It is in very good condition - the only damage I can see on this pen is a tiny bit of plating wear to the edges of the pocket clip and a tiny ding on the nib. The cap has a gold filled top stud. Both the Waterman's pocket clip and the cap bands - one very wide band flanked top and bottom by a narrow band - are also gold filled. The barrel imprint is still crisp and clear and very easily read. Opposite, the long and slender box-construction filling lever with the spade-shaped terminal is also gold filled. The nib is a shiny Waterman's No. W-5 in 14 carat gold and in a fine point. Both barrel and cap are lovely and glossy with no noticeable scratches or any other damage.
I have fully serviced this pen. The nib writes very smoothly with a very good wet line. It produces a good, consistent fine width line. This is a soft nib, and it will provide for a tiny bit of line width variation as you write.
The W5 was the top model in the series, and I see very few of them these days.
