CS1162 Conway Stewart No. 388. (Oblique Broad)

A very nice jet black Conway 388.  It is in very good condition - just the usual very light surface wear to the barrel and cap.  The cap has a large black hard rubber top button - this still has an excellent deep and rich black colour with no appreciable fading.   The gold plated pocket clip has the Conway cypher within a diamond shaped cartouche at the top and the diamond motif is repeated at the bottom.  There are three cap bands, two narrow bands flanking a wider central band.  On the barrel, the imprint is very nice and crisp and deep.  The short gold filled filling lever has the "CS" logo, again inside a diamond, on the circular end tab.  The nib is a lovely Conway Stewart No. 5N in 14 carat gold.  It has a rather unusual broad oblique point.  

I have fully serviced this pen.  The nib is very smooth and produces a very nice wet line.  This pen has an oblique cut of the tip and so it will provide some very attractive and pretty much effortless line width variation from a fine to a good solid broad.
