The VS or "Vacumatic Successor" range of pens was produced by Parker from late 1946 until it was discontinued in 1949.  A short production run means they are hard to find now and very much in demand.  The pencils seem to be more uncommon even than the fountain pens and this one is an excellent example in jet black.  The cap is very similar to that of a Parker 51, being all metal with a delicate surface frosting and a clear grey top "jewel" ,  The pocket clip, though, is very similar to the later Parker Challenger clip, being a straight tapering pocket clip with "PARKER" imprinted down the stem.  Scored hoops at the forward end of the barrel afford a very good grip, and a chrome plated point round off this attractive pencil.  The cap pulls off to reveal an unused pink eraser, though this is almost certainly a modern replacement.  Below the eraser are stored some spare 0.9mm leads.  I have installed a fresh 0.9mm lead into the mechanism and the pencil is working perfectly - extending and retractin the lead at a twist of the cap.  

I have fully serviced this pencil.  It is working perfectly.
