SW845 Swan Self-Filler No. 3140 (Flexible Medium-Fine)
SW845 Swan Self-Filler No. 3140 (Flexible Medium-Fine)
Date: c1940s
Size: Capped - 127mm; posted - 152mm.
A glossy dark green celluloid Swan Self-Filler pen. This is a rather uncommon colour in these late 1940s pens. This pen is in goog condition with some l;ight over-all surface wear being the only damage I can see. The pen retains its glossy appearance. The cap has a domed top. The pocket clip is gold filled with a ball at the bottom and the Swan logo imprinted at the shoulder. The main barrel imprint is in excellent condition - deep and crisp. The long, slim filling lever is also gold filled with a flat terminal. The nib is the original Swan No. 1 nib made from 14 carat gold. It has a medium-fine width point.
I have fully serviced this pen. The nib writes very nicely with a wet and consistent medium-fine width line. It is quite a soft nib - I would say just about a full flex nib. I will produce some lovely line width variation from a fine bordering on extra-fine on the horizontals to a broad on the verticals with little effort.
